Tensile Properties, Tensile Elongation

Purpose: This test method is used to determine the tensile strength, and tensile elongation of rubber and thermoplastic elastomers.

Sample: ASTM D412 Die C, Die A, or slabs, 6 x 6 x 0.08 inches

Basic Description: A dumbbell shaped specimen is placed between two grips and pulled in tension direction at 20 in/min until failure.  The tensile strength, and tensile elongation are calculated.
