Physical Properties of Rubber O-Rings

Purpose: This test method is used to measure the physical properties (Tensile strength and elongation, Compression Set, Thickness, Inside diameter) of rubber O-rings.

Basic Description: For tensile, the O-Ring is placed in the grips and pulled until failure. 

For compression set, the O-Ring is placed in between 2 plates and compressed 25%. The plate is placed in an oven at a specified time and temperature.  The compression set is measured once the plate is removed from the oven.
